Zalgiris – Sevilla

Zalgiris hosts Sevilla in a second leg from the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League. These are our predictions football 1×2 for this clash in the city of Vilnius.

Sevilla have a slight advantage in the leg after a 1-0 win in the first game. The Argentine midfielder Ever Banega scored the only goal in the game, ten minutes before the end of the first half time. Sevilla really hoped to make a bigger impression and win with a bigger goal difference, but at least they kept a clean sheet and didn’t concede a goal. This could be very important in the second leg.

Zalgiris did well at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Most of the people expected that they will crumble and suffer a big loss against the Andalusian team. Well, it didn’t happen. Zalgiris conceded just one goal and kept their chances of doing an upset.

The new season in the Spanish La Liga is still yet to begin. A few days ago Sevilla faced Barcelona for the Super Copa, but suffered a 1-2 defeat. The game could have gone to extra time, but Wissam Ben Yedder missed a penalty in the last few minutes of the match.

With 5 trophies, Sevilla are the most successful team in the history of the competition. The Andalusian team won Europa League three consecutive times between 2014 and 2016. It’d be a huge surprise if they fail to eliminate Zalgiris as they are among the favourites to reach the final and win the tournament.
