Two Bundesliga teams are facing each other in a game from the second round of the DFB Pokal. Bayer Leverkusen welcomes Paderborn at the BayArena on Tuesday and here’s the moment to examine this clash in our soccer matches tomorrow. Let’s go!
Bayer Leverkusen didn’t have much of a problem to reach the second round of the competition. In August Peter Bosz’ boys visited Alemannia Aachen and celebrated a 4-1 win. Alemannia’s Peter Hackenberg scored himself an own goal, while Kevin Volland, Leon Bailey and Kai Havertz scored for the visitors.
How are Bayer Leverkusen doing in the Bundesliga so far? Well, most certainly it could be better, because right now they are 8th in the standings with 15 points won. But of course, this is just one point behind the 3rd Borussia Dortmund and two points behind the 2nd Freiburg, so the gap is pretty slim.
In their last game in the Bundesliga Leverkusen hosted Werder Bremen, but lost two points after a 2-2 draw at the BayArena. Werder’s Omer Toprak scored himself an own goal, while Lucas Alario put the ball behind Werder’s Jiri Pavlenka’s back.
In their game from the first round of the DFB Pokal, Paderborn achieved a dramatic win after penalties over Rodinghausen. Uwe Hunemeier, Christopher Antwi-Adjej and Streli Mamba scored for Paderborn, who did better during the penalty kicks and progressed.
In the Bundesliga Paderborn are having some serious trouble, because right now they are the weakest team in the league, being 18th in the standings with just 4 points won. On Saturday they finally achieved their first win in the Bundesliga for the season, beating Fortuna Dusseldorf with 2-0 at home. Abdelhamid Sabiri and Sebastian Schonlaui scored for the hosts.
In our soccer matches tomorrow we believe that Bayer Leverkusen are big favourites against Paderborn, especially given the fact that the visitors are doing really bad this season. But sometimes the DFB Pokal games are very different, so who knows what could happen.
