Southampton hosts Everton
We are taking our attention to the St. Mary’s, where Southampton hosts Everton in a game from the 12th round of the Premier League. In our English Premier League predictions we will examine this fixture.
Really, really hard – this is Southampton’s season so far. The Saints are in the relegation zone of the league, having won just twice in 11 games played. In their last five matches they are just terrible – one draw and four losses. As it goes right now, the Austrian manager Ralph Hasenhuttl could be send home really soon. Some think it should’ve happen after the historical 0-9 defeat against Leicester City at home.
In the previous round the Saints surpisingly troubled the champion Manchester City at the Etihad, but they still lost the game with 1-2. James Ward-Prowse opened the score for Southampton and their lead survived until the last 20 minutes of the match. This is when Kun Aguero and Kyle Walker scored and won the game for the hosts.
On Saturday Everton will be playing for their Portuguese teammate Andre Gomes. The former Barcelona midfielder suffered a horrific ankle injury during the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the previous round. Most likely he will be out of play until the end of the season.
But this is just one of the big problems ahead of the manager Marco Silva. Everton’s performance so far could be described with just one word – terrible. Despite of having an expensive squad, right now the Toffees are 17th in the standings, just one position above the relegation zone. It’s a miracle that Silva is still not sacked by the club, but maybe this will happen if Everton don’t win on Saturday.
In our English Premier League predictions we think that both Southampton and Everton will fight to the death for the three points. Just because both teams are in a very bad situation at the moment. Let’s see.
