Porto welcomes Young Boys

Porto welcomes Young Boys at the Estadio Do Dragao in a clash from Group G of UEFA’s Europa League. We are going to spend few minutes, taking a look at this fixture in our Europa League predictions. Let’s go.

Porto are a club which plays in the Champions League on a regular basis, so for the Dragons it was a huge failure that they got eliminated from the competition during the third qualifying round. Sergio Conceicao’s team faced the Russian side Krasnodar and even won the first game in Russia, but after a shocking defeat at the Do Dragao got kicked out from the competition. Now they don’t have any other choice, but to join Europa League and try to do their best.

Porto started their season in the Portuguese Primeira Liga with a loss against Gil Vicente, but in the next four matches the Dragons celebrated four consecutive wins. In their last game Conceicao’s boys visited Portimonense and achieved a dramatic 3-2 win. The game was about to end with a draw, but Ivan Marcano scored a very late winner in the 98th win. Before this Alex Telles and Ze Luis scored for the Dragons.

Young Boys are the reigning champions of Switzerland, but just like Porto they didn’t make it to the Champions League. In the playoffs Young Boys faced Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda and they were regarded favourites, but Zvezda went through after two draws and more goals scored away from home.

Meanwhile in the Swiss Super League Young Boys are unbeaten in six games played, but currently second with one point behind Basel. In the previous round Young Boys made their first mistake for the season, doing a 2-2 draw against Luzern. Jean Pierre Nsame and Roger Assale’s goals were not enough for the champions.

In our Europa League predictions we think that Porto and Young Boys will offer us a very interesting clash at the Do Dragao. We give Porto some advantage here, but Young Boys are a very good team, too.
