Olympiakos – Bayern Munich
Can Olympiakos do something significant against in-form Bayern Munich on Tuesday, even at home? We will examine this possibility in our Champions League predictions before the clash between these two sides at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskaki on Tuesday.
After doing some important changes in their squad during the summer, Bayern Munich once again look back to their best. The German giants are leaders in Group B of the Champions League with 6 points from two matches played, scoring 10 goals. Seven of these goals were scored during Bayern’s amazing 7-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in London. The truth is clear – Niko Kovac’ team looks really fearsome at the moment.
But right now it looks like Bayern are having some bad moment. The Bavarians won just one point from their last two Bundesliga games, losing against Hoffenheim and only winning a point against Augsburg. Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry scored against Augsburg on Saturday, but in a second consecutive match Niko Kovac’ team didn’t win.
Maybe this is some reason for hope for Olympiakos. The Greek side will host the Germans and they will have the help of the stands, but only this won’t be enough. Olympiakos need to be near perfect in order to get a positive result in this game.
Right now the Greek team is fourth in this group with only one point, achieved against Tottenham Hotspur in the first round. Two weeks ago Olympiakos travelled to Belgrade, where they suffered a 1-3 loss from the hands of Crvena Zvezda.
In our Champions League predictions we admit that Bayern Munich are looking shaky in their last two games in the Bundesliga, but so far they are perfect in the Champions League. Olympiakos have some chances to avoid losing, but they must play much better than they did in Serbia against Crvena Zvezda.
