After a long run of consecutive wins, last week Chelsea conceded their third defeat for the season. Lampard led his boys to the Etihad where his team played well but suffered a 1-2 loss. N’Golo Kante opened the score for Chelsea, but until the halftime City managed to score twice. After the break Frank Lampard tried to change some things, but the inclusion of Reece James, Michy Batshuayi and Mason Mount didn’t let to equalising.

Because of this loss Chelsea lost their third place to Man City, but they are still in the Top 4, being 4th 26 points. The Blues are 7 points ahead of the 5th Wolverhampton Wanderers, which is a good lead.

During the week Chelsea had a difficult visit to Valencia in the Champions League. The game at the Estadio Mestalla ended with a 2-2 draw. Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic scored for the Blues, but these two goals were not enough for the English team.

West Ham United are having a pretty bad season so far. The Hammers are 17th in the standings with 13 points, just 3 points ahead of the 18th Norwich City and the relegation zone. Manuel Pellegrini’s team is an awful current form – one draw and four losses in their last five games.

In the previous round West Ham hosted Tottenham Hotspur, but got beaten with 2-3 in Jose Mourinho’s first game for Spurs. In the last 20 minutes the Hammers scored twice, thanks to Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna, but they were already behind with three goals.
