Borussia (D) defeated Man City at the start of the International Champions Cup
This night, with the Manchester City and Borussia (Dortmund) meeting, the International Champions Cup was launched, involving some of the world’s largest teams. The English and the Germans stood against each other at the Solder Field stadium in Chicago, USA, and Borisia’s winner was the 1-0 winner with Mario Goetze’s penalty shot. It should be noted, however, that both teams were without many of their main players and this certainly affected the quality of the game.
Borussia started the match better and Mario Goetz had the first good opportunity to score but did not take advantage. In the 28th minute, the Germans won a penalty for Zinchenko’s defeat against Pulisic, and behind the ball stood Gyotse who did not make a mistake this time and gave his team a lead.
At the very end of the first half, Manchester City was close to the equalizer after a great shot by Riyadh Makre from a foul, but goalkeeper Marvin Hitz with a brilliant rescue kept his door.
In the 55th minute, Mares had a second chance to shoot a free kick, but again he made a dangerous blow to the beam.
In the 62nd minute, Borussia scored a second goal, which was canceled for ambush.
By the end, both teams failed to find the way to the goal and the match ended with a victory for the German team.
The next Manchester City tournament is against Liverpool and Bayern Munich. Borussia will still play with Liverpool and Benfica.
