Atletico Madrid hosts Juventus

It’s going to be really exciting at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday because Atletico Madrid hosts Juventus in a game from Group D of the Champions League. We are going to take a look in our Champions League predictions for this fixture.

Maybe you remember that these two teams already met last season during the 1/8-finals of the competition. Atletico achieved a clear win with two goals margin in the first leg in Madrid, but in Turin Cristiano Ronaldo scored three times and qualified Juve for the next phase.

Atletico Madrid are entering this game just few days after their first loss in La Liga for the season. During the weekend Los Colchoneros visited Real Sociedad at the Anoeta and suffered a 0-2 loss. Martin Odegaard and Nacho Monreal put the ball in Jan Oblak’s net after the halftime break, while Atletico would like to forget this game as soon as possible.

Juventus are still looking for their first Champions League triumph since 1996. That’s one of the main reasons why the club signed Cristiano Ronaldo as well. Few times the Old Lady reached the final of the competition, but they suffered heartbreaking defeats. Can this be their year now?

The big difference for Juventus this season is called Maurizio Sarri. After winning Europa League with Chelsea last season, Sarri replaced Max Allegri as manager of the Bianconeri. Now the fans are hoping that Sarri could be the man to lead Juve to the European throne.

During the weekend Juventus didn’t win their league game as well. The Old Lady visited Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi and only won a point after a 0-0 draw. Once again Maurizio Sarri put Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain upfront, but Fiorentina managed to keep a clean sheet.

With our Champions League predictions we want to remind you that Atletico Madrid are enormously strong at home. It was not a fluke that they beat Juventus last season at the Wanda Metropolitano. Can now the Bianconeri do better?
